Instructed students in beginning, advanced, and portfolio Digital Imaging as well as beginning Photography.  Supervised use of a first generation Macintosh G3 lab and maintained all equipment and software. Designed and secured a brand new computer lab consisting of 16 networked Emacs and brought the lab into compliance with site licensing regulations. Maintained a fully equipped black and white darkroom with nine enlargers. Taught two freshmen exploratory courses in Graphic Communications and Commercial Design for the Rindge School of Technical Arts, the CRLS comprehensive technical school.  Ran two sessions of Afternoon Open Studio for students who wanted extra time to work on independent projects in both the darkroom and the digital imaging classroom. Served as advisor for the Animex club Ð a club of approximately 50 regular members interested in learning about and discussing Japanese movies, animation, language, and culture. Taught two after school workshops in Adobe Photoshop for CRLS faculty. Served as a host for Massachusetts College of Art masterÕs degree candidates. Exhibited student work in CRLS and in the Cambridge community at large.  Student work has received both regional and national honors at the Scholastic Art Awards. Participated in CRLS professional development coursework including Strategies for the Block, Teaching for Understanding, Differentiated Instruction, and CASPAR Youth Services training.

Youth Coordinator - Operation P.E.A.C.E.

                           Coordinated the after school program for Operation P.E.A.C.E. - a nonprofit organization in the Fenway area of Boston.  Supervised a classroom of 19 children ages 5-13 during activity period, homework help, and computer time.  Managed 2 assistants and a rotating group of 35 volunteers from local colleges.  Expanded a partnership with Simmons College.  Planned activities and field trips, purchased supplies and furniture for the classroom, and oversaw snack program.  Researched grants and secured donations of books and materials for the classroom. Created summer program for a group of 10 students.

 

Assistant Teacher and Residential Life Staff - Putney School Summer Programs

Summer 200 and 2001

Putney, Vermont

Assistant teacher for the painting and drawing workshop for students ages 13-17. Substituted for the painting and drawing teacher and ran classes in gesture and figure drawing. Taught printmaking and figure drawing evening classes in which students worked from a live model. Ran a weight lifting activity in the school's weight room. Served as co-leader for two camping trips. Helped to organize weekly campus-wide events and field trips. Worked as a co-dorm head for a dorm of 14 girls.
